Ludhiana : Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Science University under the guidance of Directorate of Extension Education, in collaboration with Department of Dairy Development Punjab conducted a three day specialised cattle feed manufacturing course. 27 feed millers from all parts of Punjab participated in this course.
Coordinator Dr Parminder Singh said in this course various techniques of feed manufacturing are discussed like ‘Purchase and storage of feed ingredients’, ‘Ration formulation for different categories of the animals’, ‘Importance of bypass fat and protein for ruminants’, ‘Presence of pesticides in feed ingredients’, ‘Importance of feed additives, automation in feed manufacturing’, ‘The Punjab Regulation of Compounded Feed Act’.
According to S Santokh Singh, officer of dairy development, Ludhiana, this course is necessary for every cattle feed manufacturer to get the license for marketing the feed in the Punjab state. Dr S S Sikka, head department of Animal Nutrition informed the feed manufacturers the utility services that the department offers for the farmers and the feed manufacturers, like the feed and feed ingredients testing, sale of minerals and bypass fat.
The event was presided over by Head of Department of Veterinary and Animal Husbandry Extension Education Dr J S Bhatti. He distributed the certificates and advised the cattle feed entrepreneurs to make good quality and balanced feed so that economical milk production can be achieved.
